SHELIA WRIGHT-ROEHRIG

Sales/Service Cashier and Receptionist

DADE CITY, Fl. - When someone is asked how they ended up in the job they’re in, they typically reply that it was a thought out plan, a childhood dream, or a rite of passage because family has done it before them.

For Shelia Wright-Roehrig, her job wasn't planned out years in advance. It happened by chance.

A South Florida native, Wright-Roehrig grew up in Margate, Florida, until she and her family moved north to Sebring. It would be in Sebring where she would graduate from Sebring High School and then find her calling.

“I kind of fell into it,” said Wright-Roehrig. “I joined the volunteer police forced and ended up loving it. I put myself through the Police Academy. Twenty-two years later, I retired to Zephyrhills as a Sergeant from the road patrol in Avon Park.”

Zephyrhills, Florida, would be the home she’d fall in love with. The community, family atmosphere and down-to-earth vibe would be what kept her there.

“I worked for 22 years in Avon Park,” said Wright-Roehrig. “I retired to Zephyrhills because I actually met my husband, who is a Pasco County Deputy, in Avon Park when he was working there. I’ve been here for almost 13 years now.”

Retired and looking for a slower pace, Wright-Roehrig was told by a friend that Jarrett Ford Dade City could give part-time hours a couple of days a week to work.

Six months after retiring from the police force she came to Jarrett Ford Dade City to work part-time and hasn’t looked back.

“I realized these people here at Jarrett were the best kind of people to work for,” said Wright-Roehrig. “It’s a family here.”

Family is important to her, and working for one like the Jarrett Ford Family is the reason she has stayed.

“It’ll be thirteen years in December,” said Wright-Roehrig. “I can’t imagine being anywhere else. Like I said earlier, it’s a family here. Even when Mr. Dick Jarrett would call, he’d always say something like ‘Thank you for what you do’ or just ask how I was doing. Everyone is so nice and they really are the best kind of people.”

Sometimes taking a chance leads to the best possible outcome.
