JARRETT FORD DADE CITY AND SUNRISE OF PASCO COUNTY, INC.

Doing Business the Right Way

DADE CITY, Fl. - "We will lead our community to create an environment in which domestic and sexual violence does not exist."

This is the first thing one will read when looking at the Sunrise of Pasco County, Inc. website.

According to The National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey: 2010 summary report, one in five women and one in 71 men will be sexually violated at some point in their lives. Rape is the most under-reported crime; 63 percent of sexual assaults are not reported to police and only 12 percent of child sexual abuse is reported to the authorities, according to that same 2010 report.

The statistics are enough to make anyone take notice, but there are people who have not only noticed, but made it their goal to help reduce that number and help those within that statistic.

Sunrise of Pasco County and their partners lend help to those who find themselves trapped in abusive relationships, who find themselves victim to assault and who need help.

“We are a dually certified sexual assault and domestic violence center,” said Kelly Sinn, CEO of Sunrise of Pasco County. “We can help on both fronts, and have a confidential center for women and children to go to if victim of either, and have partners who can help the men.”

Sunrise of Pasco is more than a center. They have a 24 hour hotline and prevention programs that educate those needing their assistance with the help of the Sheriff’s Department.

“We have en education system that is helped by the Sheriff’s Department,” said Sinn. “We also work with the child welfare system, to try and make sure the children are getting the best outcome possible for each situation they are in.”

Sunrise doesn't do this all alone. Businesses in the area team up to lend support and give a helping hand to the organization.

One of those organizations is Jarrett Ford Dade City.

“I think the coolest thing, besides their sponsorship of course, is the fact that each year, Jarrett Ford donates the hog and steer meat that they purchase at the Pasco County Fair to the shelter,” said Sinn. “That meat provides us with food for at least four months, sometimes more. I can’t explain how much that donation helps us.”

Along with the meat donations, Jarrett Ford Dade City participates in the “Drive 4 UR Community” event which allows non-profit groups within the community to receive funds from Ford Motor Company based on the number of “drives” each organization brings in during the day.

“The ‘Drive 4 UR Community’ helps the shelter as well,” said Sinn. “The benefits that come in are supporting the shelter and the organization and we are so fortunate to have a community like this one.”

Jarrett Ford doesn't only do donations and community rallying. They are there for any request, any need, any wish.

“Cliff and Jarrett Ford don't just help in donations or community events,” said Sinn. “Any special request we have, whether it be us needing to get a car fixed or just getting the vehicles checked, they’re there for us. They’re a champion. A cheerleader. A support system.”
